USAA - Pay As You Drive
As a Graphic Designer at USAA, I assisted in the rebranding of the newly acquisitioned Noblr product. Now named Pay As You Drive; I was tasked with various projects including a make-over of the PAYD website, creating social media ad designs, marketing emails and print material. Here are a few of the projects I’ve worked on.
Marketing Email
‘PAY AS YOU DRIVE'‘ is a type of insurance now owned by USAA that charges customers by the amount of miles they drive vs a flat rate like other insurances products.. It works by using a mobile app on customer’s phone to automatically detect when they’re driving.
Problem: Customers were confused that ‘PAYD’ is an app based insurance that requires user to download the app to track their mileage and determine thier rates rates every month.
Solution: Created an email graphic that used imagery and copy with a minimalistic design that made it more obvious that ‘PAYD’ is an insurance that is App-Based.
Software Used: Photoshop, Wordpress
Results: We saw a decrease in early cancellations as well as incoming calls regarding confusion about how the app works.
Noblr App Loading Screen
Problem: Create a graphic that can be used to keep users interested while waiting for the app to load.
Solution: Created a short, animated gif as a loading screen. I used the Noblr colors and design that matched the current branding of Noblr before the USAA transition.
Software Used: Illustrator, After Effects
Results: The gif was able to be used in the app to keep user experience active and helped create a seamless transition to USAA.
Social Ad Resizing
USAA uses an external media team to help with some of the assets for the rebranding. They created a group of social media ads in various sizes to be used on different platforms like Google, YouTube and Instagram.
Problem: The ads provided only came in one size for each ad type so we weren’t able to use a variety of ads on the different advertising platforms.
Solution: I took each ad and designed new versions to accommodate the different dimensions needed for the other platforms.
Software Used: Photoshop, Illustrator
Results: We were able to present a variety of ads for on multiple platforms which resulted higher brand awareness.
Website Rebrand
When starting my role, one of my duties was managing the Noblr website. There was already a well-built website that was designed with wordpress. At the time I wasn’t familiar with using the software and needed to familiarize myself with it as fast as possible.
Problem: After Noblr was purchased by USAA and named; The original website had a different color palette and different image assets that didn’t match the USAA brand.
Solution: Familiarized myself with wordpress and redesigned the website with images that fit the USAA brand colors and design style.
Software Used: Illustrator, WordPress
Results: We had a new and refreshed look for the website that maintained the same user experienced and also fit with the USAA brand.
PAYD Standing Banner
Once the rebrand was completed; the team working at the USAA corporate office in San Antonio wanted something to display for employees in the office so they could do their own research on the new product.
Problem: The PAYD team at the corporate office wanted a way to bring the new brand awareness to employees and encourage them to visit the website to do a quote.
Solution: Created a 6ft standing banner to be displayed in the hallway at the office. It was a simplistic design that included the PAYD branding as well as the website.
Software Used: Photoshop
Results: The banner brought awareness to the new product. Down the line I made a revised version that included a QR code for easier browsing.
